The Moments Within Moments

The Moments Within Moments Artist Statement:

My interest in portraiture has fostered my love for people, and my love for people has fostered my interest in portraiture. Through photography, I've been able to form raw and vulnerable connections with people and places. I try to use my camera to capture the small moments within moments that the human eye forgets.

Each image in this body of work is double-exposed, but not completely. Originally, my film wasn't winding properly and I was taking these oddly exposed pictures by accident. But after that happened, I began to shoot like this normally. After taking an image, I'd wind the film backward and take another image on top of the already exposed film. I feel as if these photos show more movement, more life. When shooting like this it's a complete guessing game, I never know what the photos will become. I simply capture a moment and allow the art to create itself.
